To the Phottix family:
We are very proud to be able to offer you the ability to add features and functionality to your Phottix products via firmware upgrades. These firmware upgrades are created using the Windows operating system and later converted to Mac OS. As the Mac OS is primarily a USA-used system, the availability of developers and programmers for Mac OS in Asia is limited and therefore time-consuming.
This results in our ability to deliver Phottix firmware improvements via a PC very smoothly. We wish the same were true for those using Macs. As Apple is constantly improving their Mac OS, this process is never ending and often not completed for one version before the next Mac OS is being released. This makes firmware upgrades via a Mac more challenging. We regret the problems this has caused for photographers using the Mac computing system. We are investigating a faster and better way to achieve Mac OS compatibility. This will take some time.
Until we can solve this problem, we recommend upgrading your Phottix products using a Windows-based computer. Thank you for your understanding. We thank you for your business and will continue to strive to make the very best photographic equipment for photographers around the world.
Sincerely:
Team Phottix
Mac users with virtual machines such as parallels or vmware can use windows on a mac. I was successful upgrading my Indras using parallels and win 10.
Okay, so I’m attempting the upgrade on my PC laptop instead of my Mac. The instruction document says we need to upgrade two firmware files: FDS and FIF. Both of these files appear in the unzipped folder. However, when I click the “Software” prompt during the upgrade process, only the FDS appears. Is this a problem? Or is this the only file we actually need? Thanks.
