Team Phottix was very pleased this week. The new Phottix Atlas flash trigger was featured on the Strobist website. Team Phottix are big fans of David Hobby and his Strobist site and DVDs.
Phottix has answered Mr. Hobby’s questions regarding the Phottix Atlas and looks forward to further dialogue in the future.
In case you haven’t heard about the Phottix Atlas: It’s a super-reliable wireless flash trigger. The Atlas is a transceiver – a transmitter and receiver in the same unit. Don’t worry about transmitters and receivers – the Atlas does both in one nifty, well-built unit.
The four-channel Phottix Atlas uses digital circuitry. It can reliably trigger flashes at distances of 100 meters or more at sync speeds of 1/250* sec. The Atlas has a hot shoe attachment and PC Sync ports to trigger larger studio lights and strobes. The Phottix Atlas can also be used a wireless remote.
A full range of accessories including a carrier bags, shutter release cables, and a cold shoe mount will be announced soon.
Professional photographer Craig Ferguson and FirstZoom Studios put together a video review of the Atlas. An Atlas review can also be seen on Craig’s site. Dubai photographer Charles Verghese tested the Atlas – go to part 1 of his post.
