Happy New Year from Phottix.
Out with the old — In with the new. Or so goes the saying.
We say goodbye to 2010 and hello to 2011: A new year and a fresh start. What do you want to do with your camera in 2011? What are your goals for the new year?
It’s easy to forget about your life behind the lens. Career and family commitments often result in Digital SLR being set aside. Photography is about learning and making progress, if you don’t exercise your photographic vision you’ll lose it. It’s important to keeping using your camera. If you want to improve you need to set goals.
What are your goals for 2011?
- Do you want to have a photo of the day on a major website?
- Do you want to sell and publish an image in a magazine or on a website?
- Do you want to learn more about portraiture or macro photography?
- Do you want to improve your post production and Photoshop skills?
- Is conquering lighting and off-camera flash your goal?
- Do you want to be featured on Photog Friday?
Decide what you want to do and set a goal. Then decide how you’re going to see it through. How will you get from Point A to Point B?
A 365 Photo Project is a great way to improve your photography. Take a photo each day and post it to a flickr group, your blog, or your favorite photography website. If you want to learn more about lighting read The Strobist and learn the ins and outs of umbrellas, softboxes, wireless flash triggers and gels. If you want to improve your Adobe Photoshop skills start to read books, magazines and websites, and try out all the things you have learned. The brain is a muscle and needs to be exercised.
Phottix wants to know: What are your goals for 2011? What can we do to help you get there?
Editor’s Note: This first was first published in 2010 – Please continue the comment thread: What are your goals for 2011? Did you accomplish your photographic goals for 2010?
