The Phottix Journal conducted an informal survey via Twitter. We asked: Canon, Nikon, Pentax – Why did you pick your camera brand?

The responses:

@stateofjoe: Nikon. Cheaper, and I find the hues and tones more vivid. Not to mention every noob in school has a Canon over here.

@DaveTreadwell: …personally think Nikon make better quality glass, so naturally went for a Nikon body.

@epicmahoney: I picked Canon because I prefer their UI, they charge less than Nikon, and I think the RAW files are cleaner. :)

@santrandiaries: I think Nikon has better color RT

@sbradley3: My dad was always a Canon guy. Used his cameras as a kid, fell in love with the brand.

Let’s continue. Answer in the comments below, why did you pick your camera brand?

I went for Canon because of the available range of lenses and accessories – and because the lenses are typically a bit cheaper than the equivalent Nikon lenses.
I also like the Canon ergonomics and menuing system.

another reason i got canon used and on sale and when i went to get a new one the first one went to the MRS and we wanted to have interchangeable lenses as her camera is essentially my backup and i dont want to pay 5 times for the same lenses and assorted gear.
