I had unduly harsh thoughts regarding Joey Lawrence, wunderkin photographer, after his bizarre performance at the Gulf Photo Plus Shoot-out against David Hobby and Zack Arias (Take a look at the video). He has redeemed himself in my eyes – more likely I have learned more about this photog and his work.
The video below shows Joey Lawrence has chops – he’ll go the distance to get a shot. Trekking through a rain-forest in Indonesia? Humidity, untold pounds of gear, poisonous snakes – I have a new-found respect for Joey L. Given the fact we are both Canadians and Joey grew up near my old stomping ground makes me wonder if our pass ever crossed? Possibly….
Many photographers dream of shooting in exotic locales – this video shows that is not all its cracked up to be. Before you make a photo you have to pay your dues.

That is both amazing and frightening.
I am an avid fan of JoeyL and he’s an absolutely great photographer. Inspires me a lot when i see his work.
What a great project…
