What’s up in the Nikon world?

The Nikon D300s
An in-depth review of the Nikon D300s has been posted by dpreview.com. The site gives the D300s the nod as highly recommended. The reviewers don’t consider the new Digital SLR a stand-out but a good upgrade.
Nikon is also planning Mac OS X 10.6 support for its software products. Products are scheduled to be released on the following dates:
- Capture NX2: End of December 2009
- Camera Control Pro 2: End of November 2009
- Transfer: End of January 2010
- ViewNX: End of January 2010

From the Canon world
With the announcements of the Canon 7D and Canon 1D Mark IV out of the way there doesn’t seem to be a lot going on in the Canon world. The new Canon 60D is expected to be announced after the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Announcements of upgraded Canon lenses are expected. Canonrumors.com is reporting an upgraded version of the 70-200 f/2.8L workhorse with Canon’s new image stabilization system could be announced November 24. Other sources say this announcement will come in the new year.
The wedding photographers “go to” lens, the 24-70 f/2.8L is also expected to be re-released with the new IS system, something shooters have wanted for some time.
To fill the information void Canon has released a white paper on the soon-to-hit-the-street Canon 1D Mark IV. Download the document from Canon.
Thanks for the update. This is a good camera for the price. It is simple to use and takes clear, crisp pictures. Also, the battery life is good. And the price makes it affordable to take good pictures.
