Not long after Fuji’s birthday advert had begun yesterday to create a buzz online any mystery surrounding the camera, and the advert’s meaning was dissolved with a series of leaks to fujirumors. Supposedly insiders in Japan confirmed various key facts to the site including confirming that the official announcement will take place on 28th January, as well as tipping off the site to many of the camera’s technical capabilities. Fuji Rumors also had these covert photos of the camera model which were initially posted on a French forum.
Sources of the website put the retail cost at $1800 with the camera expected to hit shops mid February. One interesting feature of the new model will be its Wifi capacity but fujirumors have posted a full list of the rumored specs which is available to read by clicking here.
In other Fuji related intrigue over at petapixel David Becker posted an interesting explanation of an original Japanese court document which turns out to be a patent application for a sensor with varying size pixels. The idea being that since the eye reacts to different colors in different ways Fuji’s plan is to enlarge size of green and white pixels relative to the other colors. The patent was filed in 2012 but released in Japanese last month, it is not yet clear whether or when this new sensor would show up in a camera, so you can probably discount it being in the X-T1. What do you think? After reading the specs does the X-T1 look like an interesting purchase?
