The Canon 1D Mark IV or Mk V is going to be announced October 20, or so the rumors go. The photography press is gearing for an expected announcement from Canon in Australia, in part to celebrate Canon’s 50th anniversary. Many speculate a new flag-ship DSLR, a replacement for the Canon 1D Mark III will be on the agenda. New lens(es) are also expected to be announced.
Canon Rumors is reporting that the new Canon 1D may be called the Mark V, skipping the Mark IV name.The new Digital SLR is expected have and APS-H (1.3x crop) sensor, and an insanely high maximum ISO – somewhere in the neighborhood of ISO 102,400. The 1D Mark IV or Mark V is expected to trump Nikon’s latest offering, the Nikon D3s.
The specs of the new camera are a matter of conjecture:
- 10-12 fps
- 16 megapixel APS-H
- 19 selectable Auto-focus points (like the new Canon 7D)
- One source reports 45 AF points
- 1080P and 720P Video
- Ergonomic improvements
